    * Picture quality is poor. You have to view it straight on in order for the screen not to appear too dark.

**It won’t receive certain digital channels. It will say that the signal is Low or that the signal is Encrypted. The same channels that this Toshiba couldn’t pickup, I was able to receive on my Insigma HD tv.

*** Bad sound quality on the digital channels. I decided not to bother with adding speakers because the sound is great on my other HD tv on digital channels. I am going to pack this Toshiba back into it’s box and return it. I just got it last week at Best Buy. There’s too much to correct on this tv for me to even think about keeping it beyond the warranty period.

It is OK. Sound too low as usual. I’m kicking myself for not getting the RCA 32″ combo at Wal-Mart for slightly less.

I’m not always able to get out of bed easily due to my health and this TV/DVD player really helps my day go by. I watch my old classic movies and mysteries. I don’t find much on TV that I care for so I don’t even have it hooked up for TV.

This is quite good for bedside but the sound isn’t very good on some DVDs so it needs to be close for me to hear it well and be able to use right from my bed.

For those reasons I think it is a good purchase.

I just set up the TV in the bedroom. It was pure “plug and play.” Actually the TV I have is the 26LV610K, which Toshiba sells for a MSRP of $20 more than the 610U. But the only difference I can see is slightly different outside bezel. The picture is excellent, maybe even too sharp in its standard setup. Color balance is excellent, reds are red (not orange or florescent), and has many available settings if it is not entirely to your liking. The DVD works just as well as a built-in should work. But the reason I am adding my review is that I have seen comments about the sound quality suggesting that at full gain it is still not loud enough unless you add external speakers. My set, as is, will drive you out of the room on full gain. So I cannot explain the other comments. It is a perfect choice for bedroom, kid’s room, etc.
