I had no idea that the HDTV did not have any means of mounting a standard wall bracket when purchased. Sharp has an optional wall mount bracket but it sells for $320.95 – wow what a rip off. I will never purchase any Sharp products again, and am comtinplating returning this TV so I can get one that mounts on the wall as the location planned for this unit need a flexable mounting to work as desired. I am very disappointed. It is a discontined product in the Sharp line of LCDHDTVs. Don’t buy one, look for another brand name.

Before I give my review people need to know Panasonic, Sony, LG, and Samsung should be the only options with LCDs.

I had this tv for 1 week and itwent from “great i have an lcd” to “this is not worth my money”l. After turning off the auto dimmer, the screen appeared brighter but was not SHARP at all. I am a novice at LCD shopping but did plenty of research. I purchased this one solely on price and not what my research said.

The tv takes 20 seconds to turn on and 10 seconds to change channels (poor). The sound is very low. The remote is cheap looking. The worst part of this tv..for its size (40 inches), the menu screen is tiny. You have to be close to the tv to read anything, (you will think you are blind but you arent).

I packaged this puppy up and purchased a Sony 40inch for $150 more. The sony compared to the sharp is night and day. Brighter (no issues with dimmer though people have said so), the sound is by far the best I have ever heard from a standalone lcd tv, the remote is legit, the menu is clear and in large font.

Stay away from this sharp tv. The associate missled me and told me sharp makes parts for the samsung tv, which is false. Sony actually does and not sharp.

I bought this set at a big box store. It was set up with other TVs so you couldn’t make a direct comparison with picture size or quality. The pictures they where showing had vary few faces that where on the screen for no more then 2 seconds and then flashed to wild life or racing land scape scenes. So it was vary difficult to tell how the sets skin tones looked. When I Got the 40″ Sharp TV home, up and running all the skin tones looked pinkish (bright pink noeses, cheeks and chins). I tried various color setting including Advanced mode to cool this affect down and I could get rid of it for the most part but then people that were in outdoor lighting conditions started showing up green. After making several calls to Sharp we decided the TV was defective and that I should return it to the store. While I was at the store I looked specifically for this pinkish effect in the picture on the model I was returning and I noticed it had the same problem. I asked the salesman if he could adjust the pinkish look out but he found the same problems I did. When I looked at the other TV sets on display all but the Sony and the Samsung had color problems. The last set I had was a Samsung Plasma that I was assured would not have burn in problems, but it did. So I went back to Sony.

The picture is great along with the many features although the sound takes a little getting used to-not as clear and loud as other tvs we have had. Don’t buy from Amazon as they have no price protection. The tv price was lower less than 1 week after we got ours and they would not refund us a difference. They claim that prices fluctuate so they can pass the savings onto the consumers-well what were we??

I purchased this TV to replace a 42″ LCD Philips TV that I have and really dislike. For one, I think Philips makes junk. The tv has horrible sound quality, the cabinet is unattractive, the HDMI engine sometimes is tempermental and needs to be unplugged to reset, and Philips customer service is among the worst. Needless to say, I was anxious to get rid of the Philips and go with the Sharp. Also, I wanted to upgrade from 720p and 1080i to a full 1080p.

Folks, this Sharp TV had HORRIBLE picture quality on the PS3 and XBOX. I tried numerous settings for the contrast, sharpness, brightness, et cetera. I experienced major eye strain attempting to play video games on the SHARP. As much as I hate the Philips, I’m going to have to continue to use it until I can find something I can afford to replace it. The Sharp TV is going to be returned.

This TV might be ok for television and movies, but I think you’ll find it difficult to watch if you play video games much at all.
